Year 1/Year 2 Robins

Welcome to Owls’ and Robins’ Classes - Year 1 and 2

This half term we will centre our learning around the theme of ‘Ready, Steady Grow'. We will launch our learning with Talk for Writing through the traditional tale of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk.’ We will complete this learning by writing our own defeating the monster story.   

In Science we will be learning about seeds and plants. We will visit the Eden Project on Monday 17th March to enhance our learning opportunities in this area and explore the plants that can or cannot grow in our country.

In  Maths  we will be continuing to learn about Multiplication and Division, then moving on to learn about the areas of Measurement; length and height.

In P.E  the children will be talking about ‘Net and Wall’, focusing on ball skills, passing and retrieving balls and participating in team games.

 Homework books will be sent home every Wednesday and we collect them back in to school on Monday morning. 

Please make sure you listen to your child read as often as possible- at least 4 times weekly. Books will be changed every 3 days during Read, Write, Inc lessons. Children in the comprehension groups will change their chapter books in class as necessary.

 Pupils will be given spellings in their homework books at the beginning of each half term. There will be a small spelling test each week.

Tapestry will be used when appropriate for us to share practical learning, special events, homework and important class messages. Please make sure you check the app regularly.

PE days are Wednesday and Friday in Owls Class

Thursday and Friday in Robins’ Class

Please make sure your PE kit is named and kept in school at all times. We will send kits home at the end of every half term to be washed.
